Faber has won an auction for a debut thriller by author Rod Reynolds.
Associate crime editor Katherine Armstrong signed UK, Commonwealth and European rights, excluding Canada, in a deal for two books with Kate Burke at Diane Banks Associates.
The first book, The Dark Inside follows disgraced New York reporter Charlie Yates as he is sent to investigate a spate of murders of young couples.
Armstrong said: "Charlie is an engaging and sympathetic protagonist that readers will warm to and the narrative grips from the start and carries you along to the very last page."
Reynolds is a graduate of City University's first two-year crime and thriller creative writing masters course.
Faber will publish The Dark Inside as a trade paperback and e-book in summer 2015.
