Faber signs debut psychological thriller

Faber has signed a debut psychological thriller by writer Susan Crawford.

Katherine Armstrong bought UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada and open EU, in a two book deal with Nicola Barr at Greene & Heaton on behalf of Jenny Bent at The Bent Agency.

The first book in the deal, The Pocket Wife, is described by Armstrong as "a gripping psychological exploration of a woman on the edge". It sees Dana waking from a drunken stupor to see an ambulance pulling into a neighbour's house – a house where Dana was just a few hours before, where a neighbour planned to show Dana a picture of her husband and another woman. However, Dana's history of mental illness casts a doubt over the entire story.

Crawford teaches creative writing at the Lou Walker Center in Atlanta.

Faber will publish The Pocket Wife as a trade paperback in May 2015 with a B format paperback following in August 2015.
