Faber to publish 'revealing' Bower retake on Branson

Faber is to publish a "revealing" new book by journalist Tom Bower on entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson.

Branson: Behind the Mask, will be released on Monday (27th January), and is described as exploring the “reality of the Branson empire” and whether Branson “really remains Britain’s heroic buccaneer”.

Bower, a journalist and investigative historian, published Branson (Fourth Estate) in 2000. The book was revised in 2008.

The author said: “Fifteen years ago I completed a biography of Richard Branson. Branson: Behind The Mask is not a revised version, rather it focuses on the quest over the last decade of Britain’s most popular businessman as he sought to become a global star."

He added: “Even Sir Richard’s uncritical admirers will find the result revealing.”

Bower's original book, Branson, has sold 52,998 copies through Nielsen BookScan.

Bower has also written biographies of Simon Cowell and Bernie Ecclestone, among other books.

Broken Dreams: Vanity, Greed and the Souring of British Football (Simon & Schuster), Bower’s investigation into corruption in English football, won the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award in 2003 and has sold 34,193 copies through Nielsen BookScan.
