Faber and Perseus Book Group’s e-book distribution and publishing solutions joint venture is rolling out a social media monitoring and analytics service for publishers.
The pilot launches at the end of October with 11 publishers in the Faber Factory Powered by Constellation (FFPC) programme taking part. The publishers will use the ForSight “social listening” platform which will give them access to four years of historical trends data, and current analysis on sites such as Twitter, Facebook, blogs and news sites.
Perseus-owned publishers in the US have previously used the ForSight tool. Rick Joyce, chief marketing officer at Perseus, said the technology had proved valuable to Perseus publishers. He added: “I firmly believe in the value of great research to support both decision-making and discovery in publishing, and ForSight offers a powerful way to garner unique insights and uncover opportunities efficiently and effectively.”
ForSight was designed by Boston-based “big data” analysts Crimson Hexagon, founded in 2007 by Harvard University professor Gary King.
Will Atkinson, director of independent publishing services at Faber [pictured], said that ForSight would help Faber Factory deliver its ambition to “provide a full publishing digital solution to all of its clients.”
FFPC was launched in 2011 and now works with over 110 publishers in Great Britain, Ireland, Australia and South Africa.
