Faber Children’s has acquired a raft of new titles from author Pip Jones, including picture books, two more titles in the Squishy McFluff series and a new series for young readers.
Children's publisher Leah Thaxton acquired world rights to three picture books from Julia Churchill at AM Heath. The books will be illustrated by Laura Hughes, who is represented by Suzie Brearley at the Bright Agency, and who illustrated Jones’ first picture book text, Daddy’s Sandwich.
Jones has also signed up to write two more books in the rhyming series Squishy McFluff and the next title, the fifth in the series, will be Squishy McFluff: Seaside Rescue! in 2015. A sixth book will appear in 2016.
Finally, Faber has acquired the world rights to a new young reader series, Piggy Handsome, which is about a conceited guinea pig, scheduled to be published in 2018.
Thaxton said: “Every story Pip writes fizzles with good humour and panache. It's no surprise that Squishy McFluff (illustrated by Ella Okstad) was the highest selling new series last year and that Daddy's Sandwich has seen such strong sales from day one. Pip's beautifully observed tales recording the antics, conversations and mishaps of modern family life surprise as much as they entertain, parents as well as children. Faber is very proud to publish Pip and to extend her partnership with the extraordinarily talented Laura Hughes across Pip's picture book publishing.”
