Faber Children’s has acquired a humorous rhyming series about a horse, Fables from the Stables, by Gavin Puckett.
Publisher Leah Thaxton acquired the world rights to three books from Polly Nolan at the Greenhouse Literary Agency.
The first book, Murray the Horse, was the winner of the Greenhouse Funny Prize 2013 and is about a hopeless racehorse who dreams of becoming a champion. It will be published in spring 2015 and the other two books to follow at a later date.
Polly Nolan said: “The Greenhouse Funny Prize was a close-run race, but Murray the Horse galloped to the front. The story is adelight to read, and it is a joy to discover a writer with such a glorious – and I’m sure he wouldn’t mind me saying it - bonkers imagination.”
Faber Children’s also published the winner of the 2012 Greenhouse award, Squishy McFluff by Pip Jones.
