Faber has acquired at title attempting to answer life's awkward questions, Big Questions from Little People Answered by Some Very Big People, which was conceived to raise money for the NSPCC, with half the advance and royalties going to the charity.
Editorial director Hannah Griffiths bought UK and Commonwealth rights in Big Questions, which will be edited by Gemma Elwin Harris who also came up with the concept, through Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown in a pre-empt deal. The title will include 120 questions from primary school children, with replies from experts including broadcaster David Attenborough, biologist Richard Dawkins and novelist Joanne Harris. The title will be published in autumn 2012.
Faber publisher Stephen Page said: "As soon as this proposal landed we knew it was a book we had to have for this autumn. As with all great ideas, Big Questions is extremely simple and instantly appealing—and all in such a good cause too."
