Faber has signed a memoir from playwright David Hare, titled The Blue Touch Paper.
Dinah Wood, editorial director for drama signed world rights from Casarotto Ramsay, while US rights have been acquired by Atavist Books.
The book will cover Hare's life from his childhood in Hastings to the rise of Thatcher in 1979, contrasting his own life with events of the time, and his relationship with film and theatre.
Hare is the author of more than 20 plays, with five included on the National Theatre's 2000 polls of the 20th century's 100 best plays.
Faber c.e.o. Stephen Page said: "This wonderful book is a landmark publication for Faber. Like all the very best memoir its story and concerns entertain and provoke the reader in turn, not least through its portrayal of our society at a time of great cultural and political engagement. It's important and thrilling and deserves the widest readership."
