Faber Academy writer snapped up by Faber

Faber has signed a two-book deal with a writer from the Faber Academy.

Senior editor Angus Cargill signed UK and Commonwealth rights to Cal Moriarty's thriller The Killing of Bobbi Lomax, along with a second book, from Simon Trewin at WME.

The Killing of Bobbi Lomax follows a series of bombings in a sleepy US town and the investigation that follows, centred round a rare books dealer who could be a genius, or a devil.

Faber plans to launch the novel in summer 2014.

The deal represents the first time that the publisher has taken on a writer from its own Academy. The author, who has previously worked as a private eye as well as writing for TV and theatre, did two courses with the Faber Academy, Writing a Novel with Richard Skinner and Edit Your Novel with Sarah Savitt.
