Europa Editions is running a prize draw for booksellers to celebrate the upcoming publication of Fresh Water for Flowers, by French author Valérie Perrin.
The draw is aimed at bookshops, to celebrate and thank them for the support and passion they inject into the publishing industry. The prize will be a weekend away for two people at the Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa in Beaune, France, including transport from London to be redeemed at a date when travel restrictions are not in place. Booksellers are invited to fill in their details and leave a review (of up to 300 words) of the book, to be in with a chance of winning the holiday.
The novel is Perrin's English debut and is due to be published in paperback on 8th June. The story centres on Violette Toussaint, the caretaker at a cemetery in a small town in Bourgogne. Her routine is disrupted one day by the arrival of Julien Sole, a local police chief, who insists on scattering the ashes of his recently deceased mother on the grave site of a complete stranger. It soon becomes clear that his actions are intertwined with Violette’s own past.
Booksellers can enter the competition here.
