Hachette Children’s Group (HCG) has appointed Etta Saunders to the newly-created role of global brand manager to take prime responsibility for the Enid Blyton brand.
Starting on 23rd November 2015, Etta will be working closely with the licensing and publishing teams to maximise opportunities for growth, reporting to deputy m.d Clare Somerville.
Saunders joins HCG from Frances Lincoln where she is currently publishing manager for stationery and gift products. She began her career at Marvel Comics before moving into children’s television and then onto mass-market publishing with companies including Parragon and Redan Publishing. Saunders has a successful track record in developing and managing major licenced brands.
She said: "I grew up with Enid Blyton's fabulous characters and thrilling adventure stories. If I could have invented a job for myself as a child then this might well have been it. I can't wait to work with the Hachette Children’s Group management team to implement the new and exciting strategies we have in store for this classic brand."
Hachette Children’s Group c.e.o Hilary Murray Hill added: “I am delighted to welcome Etta to the group. Her appointment is designed to maximise the potential of the Enid Blyton brand and ensure Blyton’s legacy as a bestselling global children’s author. Etta has a wealth of experience working with character brands and her skills will be invaluable in our development plans.”
