An English-language literary agency run from Berlin by bookseller Sharmaine Lovegrove and editor Victoria Gosling has launched at London Book Fair.
Lovegrove and Gosling will work in partnership with German agent Dr Petra Eggers, and will represent a select range of local and international writers in non-fiction and fiction.
Lovegrove, who previously worked at Foyles and the London Review Bookshop, relocated to Berlin in 2009 to set up English-language bookshop Dialogue Books, with partnerships involving the Internationales Literaturfestival Berlin and Granta magazine. Gosling is director of Berlin author consultancy The Reader.
Lovegrove said that "plenty of formidable local and international talent" was yet to be discovered. "Coupled with an increasingly challenging and rapidly evolving industry, we see a marketplace that now revolves around bringing new ideas and connections to the table," she said. "We're in a position where we can explore and contribute to the possibilities and processes of publishing."
The new agency also said its unique location, as the only English-language literary agency operating in Germany, meant Lovegrove and Gosling "offers a service spanning the breadth of Europe".
