The end of ITV1’s “South Bank Show” “signals the end of an era” according to the Guardian.
Presenter and ITV Studios arts controller Melyvn Bragg was revealed yesterday to be stepping down from his roles after 30 years.
According to the newspaper, Bragg's departure “really marks the end of an era where broadcasting was dominated by fewer channels but much bigger personalities” and “the days are clearly ending when the ITV1 schedule gives as much prominence and airtime to arts programmes as Bragg's 'South Bank Show' enjoyed.”
Bragg is expected to continue writing and to continue with his Radio 4 work presenting the "In Our Time".
