"End of an era" for South Bank Show

<p>The end of ITV1&rsquo;s &ldquo;South Bank Show&rdquo; &ldquo;signals the end of an era&rdquo; according to the <em>Guardian.<br /></em><br />Presenter and ITV Studios arts controller Melyvn Bragg was revealed yesterday to be stepping down from his roles after 30 years. <br /><br />According to the newspaper, Bragg&#39;s departure &ldquo;really marks the end of an era where broadcasting was dominated by fewer channels but much bigger personalities&rdquo; and &ldquo;the days are clearly ending when the ITV1 schedule gives as much prominence and airtime to arts programmes as Bragg&#39;s &#39;South Bank Show&#39; enjoyed.&rdquo;<br /><br />Bragg is expected to continue writing and to continue with his Radio 4 work presenting the &quot;In Our Time&quot;.<br /><br /><br /></p>
