Former Janklow & Nesbit senior foreign rights manager Emma Winter has joined Tongue Literary Scouting (TLS) as senior literary scout.
She will work alongside founder Naomi Tongue, scouting adult fiction and non-fiction for the company’s clients AW Bruna in the Netherlands, Verlagsgruppe HarperCollins in Germany and audiovisual start-up Chroma.
Winter has more than eight years’ experience as an international rights agent, working with bestselling authors and brands. She previously worked at the Darley Anderson Literary, TV & Film Agency and Pan Macmillan, and was mostly recently at Janklow & Nesbit, where she handled translation rights across all the major markets.
"I’ve known Emma for many years, and her knowledge and enthusiasm for books has always impressed me. I feel so very fortunate that she’s decided to turn her hand to scouting, and I have every confidence that she’s going to be the perfect fit for TLS. I’m hugely excited to start working together," Tongue said.
Winter added: "I’m so delighted to be joining Naomi at TLS. I’ve admired her professionally and personally for a long time—she’s a truly brilliant scout—and I’m very excited about the opportunity of working with her excellent agency."
