The Emma Press has won an Arts Council England grant to stage a series of erotic poetry readings across the UK.
The Mildly Erotic Poetry tour, held to celebrate the publication of The Emma Press Anthology of Mildly Erotic Verse, will run for ten dates, in locations such as London, Brighton, Belfast and Norwich, between 28th September and 16th November.
Each event will see between two and four poets performing a set of their poems and discussing the inspiration behind them.
Some of the readings will be preceded by open workshops where aspiring poets can bring their work to discuss it with the published poets.
Emma Wright, former e-book production controller at Orion, founded the press in 2012. She said: "We want our events to be as accessible as possible, and we hope the 'mildly erotic' element will pique people’s curiosity and encourage them to come along to the events, even if they’re not sure how they feel about poetry.
"Poetry is the ideal medium for exploring such an elusive concept, and the events will be fun and engaging, as well as sexy and thought-provoking."
