Embla Books has acquired two seasonal women’s fiction titles from Lucy Coleman.
Hannah Smith, editorial director at the digital-first imprint of Bonnier Books UK, acquired world English-language rights from Sara Keane at the Keane Kataria Literary Agency. The first book in the new deal will be published in e-book and audio in spring 2022, followed by a mass-market paperback edition of the title. The second book under contract, set in the Scottish Highlands, will be published in September 2022.
The blurb for the first title reads: "Set in Positano, the story will follow Marci James as she heads off to the Italian coast to pack up her godfather’s antiques shop and have the beach break she deserves. While there, she meets the enigmatic Nicolo Romano, and with his help, she might just rediscover who she is, and uncover a family secret no-one saw coming."
Smith said: “To have Lucy Coleman on our list here at Embla is an absolute delight; not only does Lucy write beautiful settings that immediately whisk you away to wonderful locations, but she also creates incredible characters, full of warmth and emotion, who immediately pull you into their story. It is an honour to be reunited with Lucy, and be a part of this next step in her career. We can’t wait to get started reaching new readers, and introduce new readers around the globe to Lucy Coleman.”
Coleman commented: "I'm thrilled to be a part of this exciting new venture with Embla, and to be working with Hannah Smith as my editor again. I will be taking my readers off to one of my all-time favourite destinations in Italy, and then to spend Christmas in Scotland. We're going to have a lot of fun in the process and that's what life is all about.”
Coleman's titles often feature in the Amazon top 100 and she has previously been published by Boldwood Books and Head of Zeus imprint Aria.
