Elsevier and OUP expand e-book offerings

<p>Academic giants Elsevier and Oxford University Press have launched major programmes to migrate e-book versions of front and backlist print titles onto their digital platforms. </p><p>Earlier this week, Elsevier put 4,000 backlist e-books onto its online journals site Science-Direct. The titles are from 18 subject areas, stretching back to 1995. Elsevier is aiming to put another 4,000 backlist titles onto the platform in 2008, with an additional 700 frontlist titles to be added annually.</p><p>The e-books will be available primarily on a subscription-based perpetual licence model for inst...
