Egmont Publishing is set to publish two books based on the Halo Xbox video game franchise, after acquiring world rights from Microsoft and game developer 343 Industries.
The first book, Halo Mythos: A Guide to the Story of Halo, is a comprehensive, authoritative guide to the story of the “Halo” universe, written in collaboration with 343 Industries. It will be illustrated throughout and will show the timeline of the Halo universe, including humanity’s battles with the alien forces of the Covenant, Forerunners and the Flood.
Emma Cairns-Smith, head of global acquisitions at Egmont, struck the deal with Microsoft.
Sue Allan, publishing director at Egmont Publishing UK, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing the whole canon of the Halo universe to market in this beautiful book. With over 50 pieces of commissioned artwork, these books will be a real treat for all fans of the ‘Halo’ franchise, whether they are new to the game or long-standing fans.”
Halo Mythos: A Guide to the Story of Halo will publish in October 2016 (h/b, £20). The second book will follow in 2017.
Microsoft is also the owner of Minecraft after it bought the game from Mojang in 2014.
