Egmont Publishing is redesigning its Michelle Magorian titles with new front covers, with the first two reissues due for release at the end of the month.
The covers, created by illustrator Lucy Davey and in-house designer Andrea Kearney, reflect the “historical period and themes of Michelle’s books, yet would still look fresh and appealing to twenty-first century readers”.
Egmont owns the rights to four Magorian books - Just Henry, A Spoonful of Jam, Cuckoo in the Nest and A Little Love Song.
A Spoonful of Jam and Cuckoo in the Nest will be published in paperback on 26th February 2015 for £7.99 each. Just Henry and A Little Love Song will be released on the 7th May, also in paperback for £7.99.
The novels are standalone stories but “there is chronological progression and often subtle links between subsidiary characters, so we wanted them to look collectable as well as beautiful”, said Egmont.
A Spoonful of Jam, Cuckoo in the Nest and A Little Love Song are also to be made available as e-books for the first time on 7th May, priced at £3.99.
Magorian was born in 1947 and is the author of thirteen children’s novels, including Goodnight, Mister Tom, which is published by Penguin. Her latest novel, Impossible! was published by Troika Books in November 2014.
