Egmont increases share in Hardie Grant

<p>Children&rsquo;s publisher Egmont UK has increased its shareholding in top ten Australian children&rsquo;s publisher Hardie Grant Egmont to 50%, making it a joint venture with Hardie Grant Publishing.</p><p>Egmont UK became a minority shareholder in Hardie Grant Egmont when the Australian company launched in 2003. Rob McMenemy, senior VP and managing director, Egmont UK said: &ldquo;Hardie Grant Egmont has very quickly created a market-leading position for quality, content-driven children&rsquo;s publishing. The combination of a talented team, excellent author care and a fresh and exciting list provides a strong platform for the next phase of the company&rsquo;s development.&rdquo;</p><p>Hardie Grant Egmont&rsquo;s local publishing programme features the best-selling girls&#39; fiction series Go Girl!, boys&rsquo; fiction series Zac Power, the trilogy Fairy School Drop-out and picture books. The publisher also distributes titles from the Egmont list including Thomas the Tank Engine, Sir Charlie Stinky Socks and Mr Gum; as well as the Australian Black Dog Books list.</p><p>The Egmont UK group of companies now comprises Egmont USA, launched in 2007, and joint-venture Hardie Grant Egmont in Australia.</p>
