Egmont acquires Julia Golding title

Egmont has acquired Mel Foster and the Demon Butler, a middle grade adventure story set in Victorian London, by Julia Golding.

Fiction publisher Stella Paskins acquired the world English rights from Caroline Walsh at David Higham Associates.

The book, which is about an orphan who takes on Queen Victoria’s evil butler, is an “original, pacy adventure” and is a “great read for both boys and girls”, said Paskins.

Egmont will publish in August 2015.

Golding is a former diplomat and Oxfam policy advisor. She has published 30 novels and her first book, The Diamond of Drury Lane, also published by Egmont, won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize 2006 and the Nestle Children's Book Prize 2006.
