Editis has sold its Brussels-based educational, scientific and academic publishing subsidiary Groupe De Boeck to Ergon Capital Partners III SA for an undisclosed sum. The sale will enable France’s second largest publisher "in the digital era" to concentrate on its core business of literature, education, reference books and services, Editis c.e.o. Alain Kouck said. Editis, which is owned by Planeta of Spain, bought the group in 2007.
Ergon, also Brussels-based, invests in medium-sized companies in Benelux, France, Italy, Spain and Switwerland, according to a press statement.
Group De Boeck, which was founded in 1883, has offices in Luxembourg and France as well as Belgium. It started growing through acquisition in 1991, and took over legal publisher de Bruylant this year
