Ebury imprint Vermilion has landed This Is Vegan Propaganda (& Other Lies the Meat Industry Tells You) from vegan activist Ed Winters.

Senior commissioning editor Samantha Jackson acquired world English rights from Josephine Hayes at the Blair Partnership. This Is Vegan Propaganda will be published in January 2022.

Winters is an activist, vegan educator and public speaker from the UK. He is the co-founder and co-director of Surge, an animal rights non-profit that creates vegan media content and campaigns. He also co-founded Unity Diner, London’s biggest vegan cocktail bar and diner. He has given speeches across the world and was a guest lecturer at Harvard University in 2019 and 2020. He also given two TEDx talks, which have amassed over two million views online.

This Is Vegan Propaganda is his first book and provides vegans and non-vegans alike with “the full lowdown on the meat industry and the global impact of animal exploitation,” Ebury said. “It brings together years of research and conversations with slaughterhouse workers and farmers to animal rights philosophers, scientists, environmentalists and everyday consumers, to give readers the knowledge to understand the issues and arguments better.”

Winters said: “I am so excited to be able to publish This Is Vegan Propaganda as it compiles my years of research and experience into a definitive explanation for the importance of veganism, and the urgency to transform our relationship with animals. My aim is for the book to give readers the knowledge to understand veganism better and the arguments used against it and how to respond to them. I wrote This Is Vegan Propaganda to create a book about veganism that is important for everyone to read, vegans and sceptic alike.”

Jackson said: "From debating with farmers on the ethics of the meat, dairy and egg industries to giving lectures at Harvard University on animal ethics, vegan educator and public speaker, Ed Winters works tirelessly to help people make informed decisions and challenge the status quo. We are so excited to be publishing his first book designed to empower readers and shed light on the true scale and complexity of animal exploitation.”
