Ebury launches new business imprint, Ebury Edge

Ebury is launching a new imprint called Ebury Edge, dedicated to business and performance publishing.

Launching in January 2021, Ebury Edge intends to harness talent from the worlds of business, management, leadership, productivity, sport, coaching and career management to publish "practical, inspiring books" to "help readers optimise themselves and get ahead".

The new imprint will build on the PRH division’s backlist of business books, encompassing Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In and Netflix c.e.o. Reed Hastings’ No Rules Rules as well as authors Arianna Huffington, Peter Thiel, Shawn Achor, Greg McKeown, Julie Zhou and Annie Lowrey. Ebury has had titles on the Financial Times/McKinsey Book of the Year shortlists for three of the past four years, with No Rules Rules on 2020's shortlist.

Commissioning for the list will be editors who already help produce smart non-fiction for Ebury: Lucy Oates, commissioning editor; Jamie Joseph, editorial director and head of W H Allen; and Drummond Moir, divisional deputy publisher.

Moir said: "Ebury Edge offers a clear promise to readers around the world: these books will help you get ahead. Whether it’s navigating the workplace, enriching your career, developing a new skill or applying insights from the world of business and sport to your own lifestyle, Ebury Edge books will help you optimise yourself. You know where you want to get to: our authors will help you get there."

Moir added: "What sets us apart is our maverick streak, our books’ sheer personality. Ebury enjoys a well-earned reputation for books that offer not just expertise, but attitude and character. This has always extended to our business publishing, where our biggest and enduring successes have come not just from experts and great writers, but from mavericks, rebels, provocative thinkers and authorities who offer unusual and surprising takes on things. Another element of our business publishing’s DNA is its international outlook, not just in the English language but also books in translation, and this will continue to be fundamental to Ebury Edge’s offering."

Books on the launch list include The Attributes, a title from Navy SEAL officer Rich Diviney, revealing the 25 attributes that determine success in any area (January 2021); the new book from entrepreneur, angel investor and author James Altucher, Skip the Line: Simple Strategies to Propel Yourself to Wealth, Success and Happiness (February 2021); podcaster and campaigner Anna Codrea-Rado’s "practical guide to working for yourself", You’re The Business (March 2021); and Greg McKeown’s new book Effortless, about making it easy to get the right things done (April 2021).

In the pipeline are The Outsider Advantage, in which fashion brand founder Ciera Rogers and J Elle reveal how to make "not fitting in" a secret weapon for success (Spring 2022) and The Art of Strategic Thinking by Michael D Watkins, offering "the ultimate guide to smarter decisions in an ambiguous world" (February 2022). Also forthcoming is the first book by England Rugby star Will Greenwood OBE and Ben Fennell, exploring what sport can teach us about leadership and teams in all areas of life.
