Deputy c.e.o. of DK, John Duhigg, is to succeed Peter Field as global c.e.o. of DK at the beginning of April, with Field to retire at the end of the year following a 35-year career with Penguin.
Duhigg will also join the Penguin Group Board. Prior to his post as deputy c.e.o., Duhigg was managing director of DK's Travel division and previously held a series of senior sales positions at DK and Penguin, including DK sales director. He has worked at the Penguin Group for 21 years.
Meanwhile, Field will retain his current responsibilities for Penguin in Australia and New Zealand and take on a range of international projects across the company, before retiring at the end of 2012.
Duhigg said: "I am thrilled to be taking on what I can only describe as my dream job. I've been with DK for 12 years and it's never been in better shape. It's a unique and special company and I feel honoured to be asked to lead it."
Penguin c.e.o. and chairman John Makinson said: "I am delighted that John will be filling Peter's shoes as c.e.o. of DK. DK is in excellent shape financially and is firmly established as the most innovative publisher, in both physical and digital formats, in the illustrated reference sector.
"Peter has led DK's transformation working closely with John at his side. John is Peter's natural successor and I have every confidence that DK will continue to flourish and grow under his leadership."
