Duckworth Books has acquired Nice is Not a Biscuit, an "insightful guide on how to build a world-class business by doing the right thing" from Peter Mead.
Pete Duncan, managing director, bought world rights from Trevor Dolby at Aevitas Creative Management. Publication is slated for Febraury 2022.
Mead is currently the chairman of Omnicom Europe, the European arm of Omnicom Group, the largest marketing communication company in the world. In 1977 he co-founded Abbott Mead Vickers which, according to the publisher, became the biggest advertising agency in the UK in the early 1990s and remained so for the next 25 years.
In Nice is Not a Biscuit, Mead will disclose the 100 most important business lessons that he has learnt from his years in advertising and reveal the secrets of his success, as well as his opinions about the right way to do business in creative industries.
He commented: "Many moons ago I was asked if I had any ambitions left. I replied that I would like to write a book arguing that decent behaviour in business made commercial sense. In these uncertain times, this has never seemed truer. A strong corporate culture is more important to companies than ever before."
Duncan added: "The last 18 months have seen companies wake up to the notion that treating people well is good for business. Having pioneered this school of thought with extraordinary success, Peter Mead is the go-to voice for all managers looking to build a world-class business the right way."
