<p>We are delighted to see that The Bookseller reads the Persephone Quarterly (Bent's Notes, 21st November). Of course, we would like to sell more titles through the retail trade, but owing to the fact that our &#163;10 books cost &#163;2.50 each (on average) to produce, we work on a very narrow margin and could not survive if we gave the discounts of 40% to 50%-plus that are demanded by many bookshops.</p><p>However, we do have a small and growing band of loyal trade customers (who buy our books at 35% discount), and can offer any newcomers a box of delicious mince pies with an order for C...
