Welsh independent publisher Dinefwr has signed a new novel from author and broadcaster Julian Ruck.
The Silver Songsters is the story of two boy sopranos in the 1930s, one from south Wales and one a refugee from Nazi Germany, who become celebrities after joining a renowned singing troupe.
It is inspired by Ruck's father in law, Iltyd John Loveluck, who was a successful boy soprano during the same period.
Denefwr publisher Emyr Nicholas said: "'This is a wonderful story—a forgotten Welsh 'Great' brought back to life through a work of fiction."
Ruck writes for the Labour Uncut blog, and has published other novels including The Bent Brief (Dinefwr).
The Silver Songsters will be published in paperback in April 2014.
