Hodder is to publish the audio edition of a new novel from Stephen King in June this year.
Commonwealth (excluding Canada) rights to the audio edition, which will be released as a digital download, were acquired from Chuck Verrill at Darhansoff & Verrill. Joyland will be published as paperback and e-book by Titan Books imprint Hard Case Crime in June.
The story is set in a North Carolina fairground and combines, crime, mystery, and ghosts.
King's UK editor, Philippa Pride, said: “Joyland is a beautifully written, sometimes joyous, sometimes heartrending, always gripping story, the ending of which will move you to tears as you listen. It is part of a bumper year for Stephen King and Hodder in 2013 in both audio and print form.”
Other King titles out in 2013 from Hodder include the paperback release of the latest in his Dark Tower series, The Wind Through the Keyhole, and a new book Doctor Sleep, which revisits the characters of The Shining. A film remake of Carrie is also due out this year.
