The Bookseller has launched its first ever survey of digital trading over Christmas. The survey seeks to find out how sales of digital books and apps fared over the Christmas season, with iPads and Kindles widely expected to be among the most gifted items this year.
Amazon.co.uk said after Christmas that the Kindle was its bestselling product of the year, although no sales figures were given.
Many publishers rushed to release new digital products in the run-up to Christmas, including Faber's Malcolm Tucker's iPhone app (£3.99), a Peppa Pig app from Penguin, and Hodder's Al Murray Pub Quiz Master.
Amazon launched a '12 Days of Kindle' promotion, which began on Christmas Day and ends on 6th January targeting new Kindle owners.
