HarperCollins has signed the next two books from Lauren Weisenberger, the author of the bestselling The Devil Wears Prada.
Publishing director Lynne Drew signed the deal with Vivienne Schuster at Curtis Brown, who was acting for Sloan Harris at ICM New York. British and Commonwealth rights excluding Canada were signed for high six figure deal.
The first book in the deal will be released in autumn 2010. As yet untitled, the publisher described the book as dealing with "Weisberger’s trademark territory of celebrity lives versus civilian and the monsters that are created by fame, fortune and power".
Drew said: "I have loved Lauren’s writing since I read the very first pages of The Devil Wears Prada, and am thrilled that we have a new deal to take us forward publishing her stylish and sharp takes on fame, celebrity and New York life."
Amanda Ridout, managing director of HarperCollins, said she was looking forward "to being involved in the exciting next chapter in her incredibly successful career". "We are delighted to continue our hugely successful partnership with Lauren which has already resulted in millions of book sales around the world, several industry awards and many happy readers," she said.
The two books have also been contracted by Weisberger’s American publishers Simon and Schuster. Foreign rights will be handled by Curtis Brown.
