Anna Derkacz has been promoted to HarperCollins UK group sales director with immediate effect, joining the company's executive committee.
Formerly UK sales director for fiction, nonfiction and Avon, she joined from Penguin Random House (PRH) in January 2016, and was promoted the following year. At PRH she had held roles as head of international sales and head of UK sales and began her career in buying positions at Borders UK and Asda.
Derkacz replaces Oliver Wright who departed the company with immediate effect in February. In a short statement, a spokesperson for the publisher said at the time that Wright had left to “pursue other opportunities”.
In her new role, Derkacz will join the HarperCollins UK executive committee and will have responsibility for UK and international trade and non-trade sales.
The publisher’s c.e.o. Charlie Redmayne said: “Anna has made an outstanding contribution to HarperCollins since joining in 2016. She has an in-depth understanding of our business and is widely respected across the industry. She has energy, drive and determination and I have absolute confidence that she is the right person to take our already excellent sales organisation onto the next level.”
Derkacz added: “I am very much looking forward to taking up my new role and building on the outstanding sales performance that contributed to HarperCollins winning Publisher of the Year at the British Book Awards.
"We have an expert sales team here at HarperCollins and exceptional publishing across our divisions and I couldn’t be happier to have the opportunity to lead the team as we continue to grow our business in the UK and Internationally.”
