Del Rey has acquired three “major” new titles from up and coming American authors.
Ebury fiction publishing director Gillian Green bought British Commonwealth rights excluding Canada to Find Me by Laura Van Den Berg from Devon Mazzone at Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
The “impressive” debut is set in a disease-ravaged dystopian America. Del Rey will publish in £12.99 hardback on 4th June 2015.
Assistant editor Emily Yau bought British Commonwealth rights excluding Canada to When We Were Animals by Joshua Gaylord from Margaret Halton at United Agents on behalf of Eleanor Jackson at Dunow, Carlson & Lerner in the States.
Described as a “dark gothic coming-of-age tale with a paranormal twist”, Ebury said When We Were Animals is a “literary crossover book for fantasy and general fiction fans alike”.
Del Rey will publish in £12.99 hardback on 3rd September 2015.
Del Rey editorial director Michael Rowley bought British Commonwealth rights excluding Canada to two books by Katherine Arden from Dorothy Vincent of Janklow & Nesbit.
The first, The Bear and the Nightingale, is a “hauntingly beautiful, dark and magical Russian-themed literary fantasy novel”.
Del Rey will publish The Bear and the Nightingale in £12.99 hardback in early 2016, with the second book in the deal to be published in 2017.
