Liverpool indie Dead Ink Books has made its first acquisition of a US title, Whiteout Conditions by Tariq Shah.
The title was acquired by publishing director Nathan Connolly from independent publisher Two Dollar Radio.
Whiteout Conditions is Shah's debut novel and explores the "murky responsibilities of adulthood, grief, toxic masculinity and the tragedy of revenge".
Connolly said: “Shah’s Whiteout Conditions delivers a brutal, cold and haunting tale, but does so with compassion, warmth and tenderness. The success in writing such contradictions is testament to the skill of an insightful new author possessing a rare talent. I couldn’t imagine a better title to be our first US acquisition.”
Shah said: "I'm completely thrilled to learn that Whiteout Conditions will soon have a home at Dead Ink Books in the UK. It's a true honour to know my book will join a catalogue of such wild vision and artistry, and a press whose dogged commitment to bolstering such works is increasingly rare."
The novel was published by Two Dollar Radio in March of this year and will be released by Dead Ink Books in the UK in March 2021.
