Rastamouse creator Michael de Souza, author Liz Pichon, Bookseller journalist Anna James and Blue Peter editor Ewan Vinnicombe are the judges for this year’s Blue Peter Book Awards.
The Blue Peter Awards 2015, managed by Booktrust, will celebrate children’s fiction and non-fiction with two awards; best story and best book with facts.
The judges will now pick the titles for the shortlists (three books per category), which will be announced on the "Blue Peter" show on the 4th December. Around 200 children from 10 UK schools willthen read the shortlisted books and vote for their favourite categories. The two winners will be announced on World Book Day - 5th March 2015.
Vinnicombe said the "Blue Peter" viewers love books, adding: “It’s been a terrific year for books on 'Blue Peter' and I’m very excited to read this year’s selection together with such an impressive judging panel.”
This year, the winner of the 2014 award for the best book with facts was Tony Robinson’s Weird World of Wonders: World War II, illustrated by Thomas Flintham (Macmillan Children's Books).
Katherine Rundell picked up the best story award for Rooftoppers (Faber & Faber), which also won the 2014 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
