David Frost biography to W H Allen

Ebury Publishing’s WH Allen imprint is to publish the official biography of broadcaster Sir David Frost, who died last year, titled Frost on Frost.

WH Allen acquired world English rights in the book from the Frost family and Simon Fuller at XIX Management.

Author Neil Hegarty has been commissioned to write Frost on Frost, with the full collaboration of Frost's widow and three sons. The book will also include unpublished writings from Frost and Hegarty will have access to the television presenter’s archive as well as to people who knew him.

Frost on Frost is said to be “an epic story of personal achievement set amidst a rapidly changing world, encountering the great and the good that have dominated news and entertainment over the last 50 years”.

Ed Faulkner, deputy publisher at Ebury Publishing, said: “The story of the life of Sir David Frost is a remarkable journey through the history of popular culture of the last 50 years. He was a legendary broadcaster, polymath and visionary. We are extremely excited to be working with Wilfred Frost from the Frost family and writer Neil Hegarty on what will be the definitive account of his extraordinary life.”

Wilfred Frost said: “I am delighted to be working with Simon, Ed and Neil on the one definitive book on dad’s life. Ed shares our vision for really wanting to explain “the man” and not just his career. Dad always sought to discover what made people tick, and I look forward to helping Neil do exactly the same with dad.”

Fuller said: “I got to know David well in the last decade of his life. He was a remarkable man and I am proud to be involved in sharing his inspiring story. Wilfred and I discussed many potential authors and I am confident that Neil is the perfect person for the job. The material is unquestioned, now we want to bring it to life.”

Frost on Frost will be published in hardback in September 2015. An e-book and Random House audiobook will be published simultaneously.
