The Crime Writers’ Association has appointed Maxim Jakubowski as its first ever publishers’ liaison officer.
Jakubowski, who also serves as a CWA vice chair, takes up the post with immediate effect.
Jakubowski said: “As an ex-publisher myself, I am all too aware of the symbiotic relationship between writers and publishing houses, and look forward to playing a role in improving this vital rapport and representing authors of crime, mystery and thriller books and CWA members in an ever-changing industry in which both parties play such an important part.”
CWA Chair Martin Edwards said: “Links between crime writers and publishers are vitally important. The publishing landscape is changing rapidly, and we’d decided it’s time to strengthen and develop those links by appointing a dedicated expert to enhance existing relationships and create new connections.
“Nobody is better qualified to fulfil this key role than Maxim Jakubowski. His long and wide-ranging experience, not only as an author and editor but also as a publisher, agent, reviewer, and bookseller, gives him a unique insight into the challenges facing our members and publishers in the UK and elsewhere.”
Jakubowski’s appointment comes after the CWA created the role of festival liaison officer to strengthen the links between crime writers and literary festivals.
