Crossan writes three YA titles for Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury has acquired three YA books by Irish author Sarah Crossan.

Senior commissioning editor Ele Fountain acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to the trio of titles through Julia Churchill at Greenhouse, with the first title, Breathe, to be published in autumn 2012. Fountain said: "Sarah Crossan is a powerful new voice in children's literature and we're very excited to be publishing this superlative thriller which has particular resonance for our younger generation."

Bloomsbury bought Crossan's debut, 10+ title The Weight of Water, earlier this year at auction. Breathe was also pre-empted in the US by Harper/Greenwillow in a "major deal". Churchill said: "It's rare to find a writer whose voices sings like a prayer bowl for both the middle-grade and young adults. We're so pleased that Bloomsbury will be Sarah's home for all her children's publishing."
