The British Sports Book Awards will have a headline sponsor for the first time this year, following a deal with luxury pen-maker Cross.
Held on 3rd June at Lord's Cricket Ground, this year's awards will give out prizes for categories including autobiography of the year, biography of the year, and covering football, cricket, rugby and horse racing. For the first time in the award's 13-year history, an individual award will also be given to cycling, marking the increase of publishing in the area.
Awards will also be given out to sports book retailer of the year and publicity campaign of the year.
Judges for this year's awards include Michael Parkinson, Gaby Logan, Brian Moore, Lawrence Dallaglio, Andrew Strauss, Claire Tomlinson and Bob Willis.
David Willis, chairman of the British Sports Book Awards said of the new sponsorship deal: "Cross are exactly the partner we have been looking for; a well-established business, highly regarded around the world and keen to make further progress in the UK. The support we receive from Cross will enable us to invest in the awards, in their presentation and publicity and the association with pens and fine writing instruments will add to the relevance and glamour of our awards evening."
The deal will see the awards have a new logo, alongside a series of retail competitions, while the winners of each category will receive a specially engraved pen alongside a trophy. The awards do not have a cash prize.
