Bloomsbury’s veteran cookery publisher Jon Croft is to step aside from his 11-year role as consultant publisher for Bloomsbury Absolute, taking on the role of publisher at large for Bloomsbury Lifestyle.
In the new part-time role he will oversee authors including Tom Kerridge and Angela Hartnett, as well as seeking new talent.
The Absolute list will continue to publish a select number of titles under the imprint name Bloomsbury Absolute and will now fall under Bloomsbury Lifestyle, overseen by Rowan Yapp.
Croft, who founded Bloomsbury Absolute in 1979 as Absolute Press, said: “As I move into my new role of cookery publisher at large — and at lunch — I will be on the lookout for brilliant new talent to enhance Bloomsbury’s existing stellar roll call of bestselling and award-winning authors. A rather wonderful small mini chef list is also in the planning stages with further details to be announced once finalised. It’s all rather exciting!”
Yapp, head of Bloomsbury Lifestyle, said “We want to set Jon loose to discover new and exciting talent as we build Bloomsbury Lifestyle. We want to discover new talent from all areas of the culinary spectrum and across the world and having Jon in this role means that we can support and publish these authors. It is great to continue working with him and the passion and energy he can bring to this. Bloomsbury Lifestyle will only see the benefit of Jon’s new role.”
Croft will also continue to publish under his own imprint, Jon Croft Editions, which had a top 10 bestseller in 2021 with Chefs at Home and recently released The Platinum Jubilee Cookbook. Jon Croft Editions‘ trade titles are sold and distributed by Bloomsbury.
