Vintage will be hosting an interactive locked room mystery with a script written by Ruth Ware during lockdown, featuring fellow crime writers including Steve Cavanagh, Dorothy Koomson and Abir Mukherjee.
The Detective Club Murder event has been organised by FutureBook Team of the Year At Home with the Four Indies alongside Red Herring Games and takes place on 12th November. Tickets are available online.
Also featuring Lisa Jewell, Liz Nugent and audiobook narrator Imogen Church, it focuses on six fictional crime writers who are invited to the annual dinner of The Detective Club, an organisation comprising the crème de la crème of mystery authors. However, on the night their host is murdered and audience members must follow the clues to solve the crime.
The event marks the publication of Ware’s new book, One by One, published on the same day by Harvill Secker.
Ware is the bestselling authors of thrillers including In a Dark, Dark Wood, The Lying Game, The Death of Mrs Westaway and The Turn of the Key. Her books have been optioned for TV and film and she is published in more than 40 languages.
New book One by One is a “brilliantly gripping thriller” which finds a group of colleagues trapped by snow in their chalet in the French Alps, with deadly consequences. Published in the US and Canada in September, it debuted at number one on Canada’s Globe & Mail bestseller list, and number three on the New York Times bestseller list.
