Cressida Cowell to live-stream schools event

Cressida Cowell to live-stream schools event

Author Cressida Cowell will make a free virtual author appearance for schools and libraries on Cressida Cowell Live in September.

The event will mark publication of the 11th and penultimate book in Cowell's bestselling How to Train Your Dragon children's series, How to Betray a Dragon's Hero (Hodder Children's Books, paperback, £6.99).

HCB has teamed up with online video specialists Stream UK to bring Cowell's event live from Southfield Library in Wandsworth, where she is appearing in front of a live audience of local schoolchildren, to reach "thousands" of pupils via a link-up with The Reading Agency. The event will take place on 26th September at 10.30am.

The publisher said Cowell doesn't have the time to do all the request appearances schools would like, and so the virtual author event will give schools as close as possible an experience to an actual visit.

The event will also mark the third annual "Dragonese Day", a nationwide promotion with downloadable material for booksellers, teachers and librarians, suitable for teaching children aged five to 11.
