Carlton Publishing Group has secured world rights to an official Wallace & Gromit tie-in. Grand Adventures & Glorious Inventions: The Scrapbook of an Inventor . . . and his Dog will be published in March 2009 to coincide with the launch of the DVD of the latest film and the 20th anniversary of the Nick Park franchise.
Written by established children's author Penny Worms, the book will be laid out as a secret "invention scrapbook", filled with information and memorabilia from the three previous films: "The Wrong Trousers", "A Close Shave" and "The Curse of the Were-Rabbit".
Retailing at £17.99, the hardback will include pull-out blueprints of Wallace's inventions, a Gromit "mood-ometer" and a booklet of past vegetable competition disasters.
It will also offer "a taster" of the new television short, "A Matter of Loaf and Death", in which the two protagonists start a bakery business. The 30-minute film will be aired first on BBC 1 and then released as a DVD.
