Cressida Cowell, announced this week as the Waterstones Children’s Laureate, will headline this year’s Bookseller Children’s Conference alongside Catherine Bell, co-m.d. of Scholastic UK.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘The Big Tent - Publishing for Everyone in Today’s Divided World’ and Bell will give a keynote speech entitled ‘Raise the Roof: Putting on a Show to Wow all Children’.
Cowell will give the final talk on Monday 23rd September, rounding off the day with a speech about how reading is magic and magic should be for everyone.
Emma Lowe, director of publisher relations, said: “This conference is always one of the high points of The Bookseller year. The day’s events never cease to amaze and inspire me, and I hope that all those who can attend will come along, and help to ensure that we really are publishing for the next generations in their entirety.”
The Bookseller Children’s Conference will, for the first time, host the announcement of the upcoming World Book Day titles, as well as host speakers from W H Smith, The Insights People, BookTrust, Oxford University Press, CBeebies, Pop-Up, UCLan and Walker Books. There will also be a series of discussion events, where the audience can quiz the speakers on subjects such as getting review space in the media, how to make YA sell and publishing beyond the London bubble.
Earlybird rates for tickets are available from now until 19th July via the conference website.
