Cotter named O'Brien Press Bookseller of the Year

<p>John Cotter, central buyer for Book Centre bookshops and manager of the book department in The Book Centre, Waterford has been named The O&#39;Brien Press Bookseller of the Year. <br /><br />Cotter was awarded at the Booksellers Association Conference held in the Hilton Hotel, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin on 27th March.&nbsp; <br /><br />Michael O&rsquo;Brien, publisher at The O&rsquo;Brien Press, said: &quot;Courageous, ethical and clever, [Cotter] is an avid reader and consistently picks and sells good books, often from backlist and regardless of wider market trends. </p><p>&quot;He is a trusted employee and widely-respected central buyer. Imaginative and innovative, he trusts his instincts with ideas such as Minority Book of the Month, Staff Choice and a dedicated area for award-winning books.&quot;<br /><br />Cotter has previously worked in Hodges Figgis Bookshop in Dublin and managed The Kinsale Bookshop, Kinsale before taking up a position with The Book Centre in January 2000.</p>
