Corvus signs 'captivating' curse tale

Atlantic imprint Corvus has signed a novel about a young librarian by Erika Swyler.

Editorial director Sara O'Keeffe signed UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, in The Book of Speculation in a deal with John Wordsworth at Zeno Agency on behalf of the Folio Literary Agency.

The book follows Simon Watson, a librarian who discovers his family lives under a curse, which means all the women of his family drown on 24th July.

It will be released in February 2016.

O'Keeffe said: "I found myself utterly transported by this captivating and page-turning read. It has the combined strengths of deftly drawn characterisation, a beautiful, desolate setting and a propulsive plot with a mystery at its heart."
