Hodder imprint Coronet has acquired a spoof celebrity memoir by Twitter personality Cheryl Kerl.
Commissioning editor Charlotte Haycock bought BCN rights including serial to Woath It? Coase Ah Am, Pet in a deal with Jonathan Conway of Mulcahy Conway Associates.
The title, to be published as a £12.99 Coronet hardback on 14th October, follows the glamorous life of Kerl—inspired by "X Factor" judge Cheryl Cole. Born Cheryl Tweety, Kerl got her big break when she won a place in girl band Girls Are Loud.
Kerl said "Ah man, when Coronet asked uz tuh reet mei book Ah wuz leik blern awey. Tuh think thar Ah'm ganna be joinin the ranks a the literaree greats leik Shakespeeah, Dickins an Joadun is berth humblin an tertally mint at the same teim, pet."
Haycock said "As soon as I first heard about Cheryl Kerl I fell in love with her. Woath It? gently pokes fun at the modern world of celebrity and has really great commercial potential. And it has certainly made me laugh listening to all the attempts at a Geordie accent here at Hodder!'
