Elaine Connolly has joined Hachette Children’s Group (HCG) in the newly created role of senior commissioning editor for picture books.
Connolly, who joins from Bloomsbury, will start in her new role on 12th October, reporting to Emma Blackburn, picture book and non-fiction publisher, until editorial director Frances Elks returns from maternity leave.
Currently a commissioning editor, Connolly has been at Bloomsbury for nearly seven years where she’s worked across illustrated fiction and non-fiction books. Most recently, she commissioned pandemic-inspired picture book The World Made a Rainbow written by Michelle Robinson and illustrated by Emily Hamilton.
Connolly said: "I have always admired the brilliantly inventive and award-winning picture book list at HCG. The team has a clear commitment to nurturing phenomenal talent and discovering new voices and artists. This is an incredible opportunity to work with their fantastic creative team and I'm excited to get started."
Blackburn said: "Elaine is a wonderfully creative editor with an exceptional eye for commercial picture book texts. Her strong relationships with authors, along with her knowledge of the picture book market, make her a wonderful addition to our talented picture book team. I'm really excited to be welcoming her to HCG."
