Pascoe tackles the female body for Faber

Faber has acquired a book by comedian Sara Pascoe, a feminist exploration of the female body.

Editor Sarah Savitt signed world rights at auction to Animal: How a Woman is Made, from Dawn Sedgwick at Dawn Sedgwick Management. The book will be published in Spring 2016.

Savitt said: "I have wanted to work with Sara ever since I first saw her do stand-up and I feel incredibly lucky to be publishing this book. It feels like the perfect subject for Sara to explore and be funny about, and a perfect fit for our list."

The book will combine autobiography and evolutionary history, to look at how the female body has been discussed, fetishised and misunderstood throughout history.

Pascoe has appeared on programmes such as "Live at the Apollo", "QI", "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" and "Room 101", and won the 2014 Chortle Award for best breakthrough act.
