Random House US imprint Knopf is to publish a book written by former US president Bill Clinton, setting out his ideas on how to mend the US economy.
The book, Back to Work, will be published in the US in November. Sonny Mehta, Knopf chairman and editor in chief, bought world rights from Robert B. Barnett of Williams & Connolly.
Mehta said the book will set out Clinton's plan to get the country "back into the future business", talking about ways to repair the banking structure, raise exports, help the manufacturing sector and create new businesses.
Clinton said: “I wrote this book because I love my country and I'm concerned about our future. As I often said when I first ran for President in 1992, America at its core is an idea — the idea that no matter who you are or where you're from, if you work hard and play by the rules, you'll have the freedom and opportunity to pursue your own dreams and leave your kids a country where they can chase theirs.”
Random House in the UK published Clinton's memoir My Life and his book Giving: How Each of Us Can Change the World. However, it said it had "no immediate plans" to publish this book.
